A professional organization formed by workers sharing a common trade. Guilds regulated apprenticeship, training, and standards of craftsmanship to maintain quality and protect members' interests. They control the production and sale of goods, ensuring fair wages and prices. Guilds also provided social support, including healthcare and funeral benefits, to members and their families.
