A blast furnace is a towering structure used to smelt iron ore into molten metal. Constructed from stone and lined with refractory materials, the furnace featured a tall chimney to vent gases produced during the smelting process. A bellows provides a continuous blast of air, stoking the fire and raising temperatures inside the furnace to over 1,500 degrees Celsius. This intense heat melts the iron ore, separating the molten iron from impurities.
The Blast Furnace will boost Iron yields by 10% per level.
